Liquid Metal Smart Materials toward Soft Robotics

Unlike conventional rigid machines, soft robots generally have unique operation styles that rely heavily on matter engineering and smart material systems. Owing to the superior merits of both metals fluids, liquid metal materials are increasingly being innovatively used as actuators sensors construct robots. To promote further development prosperity in this field, review organizes summarizes typical progress materials, with a special focus their robotic response behaviors. In particular, article emphasizes concept composite systems consisting synergistic substances (e.g., solutions, particles, polymers). The behaviors under actions external factors (electricity, magnetism, ultrasound, light, heat, etc.) examined properties occurring during these responses, such motion, transformation, self‐organization, adaptive healing, autonomous sensing, identified. Furthermore, actuators, control systems, based summarized elaborated upon. Finally, potential directions worth pursuing challenges outlined.
